Biography

D-Mindz aka MizzleD-Mindz, aka Mizzle (real name Ryan Roberts) was born in Peterborough in 1991.

He attended Watergall Infant and Junior School before going to Bretton Woods Secondary School, and completed his last years at the Voyager Arts and Media school in Peterborough.

It was during this time that (age 15), Mizzle entered the prestigious John Lennon Song writing contest held in New York City (USA), with his self penned track "Back Again"

This song took him to the Finals of the Hip Hop section, where he eventually finished 3rd.
This was the first time a UK artist had made the finals of this competition which was judged by worldwide established artists such as  D12 (Eminems band), Enrique Inglesias, Barry Gibb (The Bee Gees) and Carlos Santana.

D-Mindz first started writing Poetry after being inspired by his Nan, who herself was a published poet, it was that combined with his love of music that took him into the world of Rap. At home he was listening to a vast range of different music genres from Soul, RnB and Reggae to Pop, Hip Hop and also the old time Crooners like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. This musical background it seems has stuck with him today as he seems to take inspiration for his beats from a wide music spectrum.

Since the success in the John Lennon contest in New York, D-Mindz has collaborated with Sony signed USA artist “Hopsin” and performed with US Rapper MC Lars, and more recently shared a stage with Example (who has just toured with Lily Allen and Tinchy Stryder).  In fact it was MC Lars that said “D-Mindz is the future of UK Rap”.
He has had his songs played on radio stations in the USA and Canada and has appeared on TV in the UK as well as getting some excellent press coverage too.

“Mizzles” MySpace music page  has had over 850,000 views and with 20,000 fans playing his songs over 540,000 times it is no wonder that he has been top of the Myspace unsigned artist chart, and has been in the top twenty regularly.

He is currently working on a new album with Rayan Gee (Shades of Rhythm) and is hoping that 2010 will be the year that the UK takes notice of the 18yr old from Cambridgeshire.
